Hungarian Bioenergy Competence Centre (HBCC - OBEKK)
The foundation of HBCC in 2008 was inspired by the recognition of the fact that Hungary will have to face an increasing demand for renewable energies, including those derived from biomass, while the safe supply of food and export of goods will have to be provided as well.
The centre seeks to participate in international knowledge communities and knowledge transfer processes, to gather new research and development data, and to facilitate their adaptation in Hungary.
The centre aims to serve as a catalyst for complex renewable energy development and utilization processes - from basic research, via technological developments, to the realization of investment projects.
HBCC analyses the environmental and economic relationships of green energy development measures and reference plants, and contributes to the preparation of action plans and strategies in the bioenergy sector.
It provides consulting and project management services for local governments and economic partners concerning their renewable energy developments, especially tasks related to the planning, tendering and implementation of biogas plants, biomass combustion systems and biofuel production facilities.
HBCC is the representative of the Central Hungary region in the European Innovation and Technology Institute’s Climate Knowledge and Innovation Community.
